GelCool Systems for Baseball Catchers

Long Before Your Personnel Suffer Heat Stroke, Their Performance Suffers from Heat Exposure

GelCool is the professional's choice for cooling systems.  Our solution for baseball catchers keep your players mentally focused in high heat environments, and help them avoid heat related illneses such as heat stress and in the worst case, heat stroke.  Since most of the baseball season is played in the hot summer months, the catchers have significant exposure to high heat environments.  GelCool offers a cooling system for baseball catchers that includes 28 Professional-Grade Cooling Gel Packs (Model GX) housed in a portable, ruggedized steel-case fridge (see photo in left column).  This system retails for $2,730.  We also sell the gel packs without the portable cooler - please contact us for pricing.

Important Note
:  GelCool Model GX gel packs have passed NOCSAE drop test certification in football helmets, but they have NOT been tested in any baseball equipment.  This testing is scheduled for Fall 2008.  The NOCSAE testing for football showed that GelCool gel packs are extremely durable and did not cause the football helmets to fail the test in any way.  Nor was there any leakage of gel to the (test dummy's) eyes or face (our gel uses non-caustic, non-toxic food safe ingredients anyway).  It will be clearly stated in GelCool System's purchase documentation with baseball teams that this testing has not been performed and that the teams are choosing to use this product as they wish, without direction from GelCool Systems.  That said, it is common knowledge that players often insert various articles into their helmets such as skull caps, wool caps, handkerchiefs, small towels and other items which have never been NOCSAE tested in a helmet.  So it is up to the team to decide how or if GelCool products will be used without warranty from GelCool Systems.  The product itself will still carry its warranty against out of box defects.

Gain the Competitive Edge

Every team needs every legal competitive advantage it can use.  The teams that keep their player personnel coolest in the heat will have a definate advantage over their opponents in mental sharpness and endurance.

Our equipment uses GelCool (TM) insert packs.  These are dry cooling packs, not evaporative like traditional cooling solutions.  These cool packs keep your athletes significantly cooler in the most challenging high temperature environments.  Our gel packs significantly lower the risk of heat stroke and heat related illnesses.  Even the mildest forms of heat stroke can cause weakness, dizziness, and lack of concentration.  In high temperature environments GelPacks are worn from the beginning of the exposure to heat.  The gel packs are fixed in place in the upper cap by velcro, allowing quick-changeout of the packs.  They are specifically designed to fit the type/shape cap which maintains the cap's fit.  We use a shielding system that graduates cooling over a long period of time, avoiding potential discomfort from too much immediate cooling and providing a more uniform, lasting cool temperature.

Our cool packs provide immediate, on-demand, long-duration, dry cooling.  GelCool (TM) packs can be re-cooled overnight in your freezer.

Help Avoid Heat Stress Illness and Heat Stroke

Over 20% of heat stroke victims die regardless of health or age.   In some cases, the side effects of heat stroke are heat sensitivity and varying degrees of brain and kidney damage.  The symptoms are confusion, irrational behavior, convulsions, coma, and in the worst case, death.

GelCool Systems help maintain a lower brain blood temperature that significantly enhances safety and performance.
